Advice from a TREE - "Seek Nourishment from the Good Things in Life"

Posted: June 8, 2016

Today, residents of Raymond Desmarais Manor, a seniors building at 255 Riverside Drive East, celebrated  friendship and harmony and the commemoration of the Chinese-Canadian Friendship Trees.

Last year,  two ornamental pear trees were planted at Raymond Desmarais Manor,  to represent the friendships built among the residents. The Chinese Residents Group brought the Chinese-Canadian Friendship Tree event to the Manor as living monument to friendship and gratitude. In ancient Chinese culture, fruit play a significant role, the pear represents harmony and is used to signify long-life.

This year Windsor Essex CHC presented a Quartz rock engraved in Chinese and English as a permanent monument to the living monument of the pear trees.  We thank Windsor Turf, Jobin Rock Farms and Hollywood Engraving for their skills and talents.

The event was attended by many residents, and also included words from Ms. Debbie Cercone, Executive Director of Housing and Children's Services, Ms. Ann Paul, President of the Resident's Association and Board member, Mr. Zheuming Xu, representing  the Chinese Residents Group, Mr. Jim Steele, CEO, CHC ,Mrs. Marina Clemens, Chair CHC Board.

MP, Brian Masse, Windsor West was unable to attend but provided a greeting to his friends at the Raymond Desmarais Manor. Click on the link and view our Programme.
