Message from Jim Steele, Windsor Essex CHC CEO to residents about Coronavirus-19

We know that COVID-19 is top of mind for Canadians across the country. The health and well-being of our employees, our residents and everyone in Windsor and Essex County is a top priority for my team and me.

I want to thank everyone, especially our local front-line healthcare workers, the Windsor Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) and the City of Windsor’s Community Control group which is monitoring the situation locally and globally. 

These are uncertain times, and CHC is continuing to monitor this extraordinary situation closely and is following the latest guidance from local, provincial and federal health authorities, including the Public Health Agency of Canada, and the City of Windsor to ensure that our practices align with the latest recommendations.

We are taking steps to help keep you protected:

  • Enhanced cleaning procedures in our apartment building entrances and elevators, and at all CHC locations, including our Main Office, all District Office locations and the Central Housing Registry- Windsor Essex County
  • Redeployment of staff to support the response to COVID-19
  • Proactive identification of safety procedures and protocols to guide staff and contractors
  • Suspended community events to support social distancing
  • Increased resident communication as the pandemic response evolves
  • Regular and updated communication through our website wechc.com and notices posted in buildings.   • Online using your smartphone or other mobile device, your laptop or computer. E-services include rent payments, questions about your tenancy, and maintenance requests. Go to wechc.com e-services to access these options.

 Please be aware that you may experience slower than usual response times due to a higher volume of calls. Rest assured that we are committed to providing you with the best service we can as we help all our residents navigate this unusual time.

Thank you for your patience as we all manage through these coming months.  We will continue to be proactive in our efforts. We will work to keep the entire CHC community advised of changes to services and procedures, including our employees, residents, vendors and partners. We ask that you follow the advice of our local Health Unit for ways to practice prevention, like washing hands, monitoring your health, and taking care of yourself and those closest to you.
