Windsor Essex CHC wishes to express our thanks and appreciation to all of our staff, housing  provider colleagues, service providers, friends and family who supported our endeavour during  ONPHA's Housing Open Doors Campaign which made a stop in wonderful Windsor on June 22, 2013.

Special thanks to Steve Green and the Downtown Windsor Farmers' Market vendors who welcomed us and hosted our event.  Deborah Martel, Cheryl Porter  and Hon. Teresa Piruzza, spoke to the needs of affordable housing and the benefits this program provides in communities like Windsor. Jim Steele, CEO  of Windsor Essex CHC along with Sharad Kerur, Executive Director for ONPHA also spoke to the need for affordable housing to become a priority at all levels of government while working together  and colloboratively to move solutions forward.  We were pleased to support  the Windsor Economic Development Corporation and the DWFM in the $10 Local Food Challenge on June 22m 2013 too.

John Wilson,Manager, Communications and Marketing for ONPHA confirmed, ''Windsor racked up 5,231 rings on Saturday. 3,360 were online. That puts Windsor second to Toronto" in the Ringing The Bells for support during the event.

The housingopensdoors.ca website saw an additional 1,548 rings of support on Sunday after our Windsor event and coverage from CKLW and CTV news starting Sunday and running regularly through to Monday evening. We’ve set an ambitious goal: 156,358 rings of support, one for every Ontario household still waiting for an affordable home.

Continue to show your support Windsor by informing friends in your contact list and  neighbours of this campaign. It is a simple request, to ring a doorbell, but it has more meaning than ever before.
