COVID Precautions and Noncompliance Reporting

Posted: December 21, 2020

On Friday, December 18 the following notice was posted in all CHC  Apartment Buildings.

COVID can only be stopped if everyone follows public health safety practices and legislation. Most people are doing their best to be safe by staying home, wearing a face covering, maintaining physical distancing of at least 2m (6’), and hand sanitizing. CHC along with 311, Windsor Police Services, and Windsor Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) Enforcement Officers see it is a minority of residents and visitors in CHC buildings who have not complied with Ontario legislation.

Ontario Regulation 82/20 Gatherings, Stage 1 prohibits all indoor social gatherings during a lockdown. WECHU officers enforce this legislation by issuing fines to residents and visitors. Zero people are permitted together indoors except for people living in the same unit, essential worker, movers, personal support worker, care giver, and delivery of food and necessities. See https://www.wechu.org/cv/local-pandemic-status for more information.

  COVID-19 NON-COMPLIANCE REPORTING

CHC will assist WECHU with the enforcement of the restrictions on social gatherings and the use of face coverings by reporting known non-compliance in our buildings. Ontario law sets limits on social gatherings and mandates face coverings in common areas of apartment buildings during a pandemic. See https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/r20647 for more information.

We are aware several tenants called various government agencies to lodge a complaint against people they have witnessed breaking the provincial and local pandemic regulations. In several instances, enforcement agencies responded and issued warnings or fines.

If you need to report a COVID 19, concern within your building, you can now do that through the CHC website. We have added a COVID reporting function to our online Customer Service Inquiry form in E- Services. http://www.wechc.com/customer-service-inquiry/

CHC has changed our service levels to help mitigate the risk of transmission of COVID-19 within our community. These changes will impact our response and may increase wait times longer than usual. CHC expects all residents and visitors on CHC property to follow the pandemic protocols in place.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter,

  Sincerely,

CHC Management
