2 more drive thru food box pick up boxes in Essex County

Posted: May 15, 2020

The Unemployed Help Centre is opening two more drive-thru food box pick up locations to meet the growing demand for food donations across Essex County.

The new locations will serve those in Essex and Harrow who are experiencing financial difficulties during the pandemic.

The location in Essex is at the Essex Centre Sports Complex. It will be open between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday.

The one at the Harrow Arena parking lot will be open Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Unlike other drive-thru food box pick up locations in the county, these two will only be open the one day, to start.

While Essex has a food bank, Harrow does not.

The food hampers will provide enough food for seven days per person.

In Leamington, there is a location at the Salvation Army Leamington Community Church, which is open every Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In Puce,  every Monday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.,  open at 962 Old Tecumseh Road, not far from the roundabout at County Road 22.

Two locations in Windsor. In the west end, residents can go to the parking lot of St. Michael’s Adult Secondary School on Detroit Street every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In East Windsor, residents can go to the Unemployed Help Centre on Cantelon Drive.

At all locations, residents can drive up and park, and a volunteer will load the food hamper into their trunk.
